우리 학부 전상훈 교수가 2025년 KCHIPS(민관공동투자 반도체 고급인력 양성사업) 포상에서 ‘한국산업기술기획평가원(KEIT) 원장상(우수 연구개발상)’을 수상했다.
이번 포상은 KCHIPS 사업을 통해 국내 반도체 R&D 경쟁력 강화에 기여한 연구자의 탁월한 연구 성과를 선정해 시상한 것으로, 전 교수는 총괄책임자 과제인 ‘하프니아(HfO₂) 기반 강유전체를 이용한 차세대 메모리 소자 개발’을 수행하며 국내 메모리 반도체 기술 고도화에 크게 기여한 공로를 인정받았다.
전 교수 연구팀은 기존 실리콘 기반 메모리 구조의 한계를 극복하기 위해 초박막 하프니아 강유전체의 분극 안정화, 인터페이스 공학, 고집적 어레이 구현 기술 등을 중점적으로 연구해 왔다. 특히 미래 AI·서버용 비휘발성 메모리에 요구되는 저전력·고속·고신뢰성 특성 확보에서 두드러진 성과를 거두며 산업계와 연구기관으로부터 높은 평가를 받았다.
수상식은 2025년 11월 12일(수) 18시, 홍천 비발디 소노캄 3층 크리스탈볼룸에서 열린 KCHIPS 총괄워크숍에서 진행되었다.

Professor Sanghun Jeon of the KAIST School of Electrical Engineering has received the 2025 KCHIPS (Korea CHIPS Program for Public-Private Joint Investment in Semiconductor Talent Development) President’s Award from the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT).
The award recognizes outstanding research achievements that have contributed to strengthening Korea’s semiconductor R&D competitiveness through the KCHIPS program. Professor Jeon was selected for his leadership in the flagship project titled “Next-Generation Memory Device Development Using Hafnia (HfO₂)-Based Ferroelectrics,” which has made significant contributions to advancing Korea’s memory semiconductor technologies.
Professor Jeon’s research team has focused on overcoming the limitations of conventional silicon-based memory structures by studying ultra-thin hafnia ferroelectric polarization stabilization, interface engineering, and high-density array implementation technologies. Their work has produced notable progress in achieving the low-power, high-speed, and high-reliability characteristics required for future AI and server-oriented non-volatile memory, earning strong recognition from both industry and research institutions.
The award ceremony was held on November 12, 2025 (Wednesday) at 18:00 during the KCHIPS General Workshop at the Crystal Ballroom, 3rd Floor, Vivaldi Sonocam, Hongcheon.
